LUSAKA (Reuters) - Zambia's electoral commission said it would announce initial results on Friday in a close-fought election contest between President Edgar Lungu and Hakainde Hichilema, who accuses Lungu of mismanaging the economy.

LUSAKA (Reuters) - Informal currency trader Jabulani Lungu thinks Zambia's ruling Patriotic Front has had its chance, and he hopes this week's general elections will bring in a new party to steer the economy out of a slump.

JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) - South Africa's main opposition leader proclaimed the dawn of an era of 'non-racial' politics envisioned by the late Nelson Mandela on Monday, saying a bid by the African National Congress to highlight divisions at last week's local elections had backfired.
